As a teaching organisation, we also provide ophthalmology education and ‘eye health’ information and support sessions for the community.
Our consultants are regular speakers for local community organisations such as Rotary and Lions. These opportunities enable us to reach the wider community and raise the awareness of ophthalmic eye health to improve the public understanding of common eye conditions by dissemination of accurate and relevant information about eye disease and treatment.
Regular patient and carer support sessions are held at our medical centre for patients with Age Related Macula Degeneration (AMD).
Results of research and trials are regularly presented to our ophthalmic peers at meetings and conferences. Consultants associated with Tasmanian Eye Institute also continue to enhance and develop strong working relationships between healthcare providers by hosting education sessions for the benefit of improving patient care.
